week four blog (Muireann)

how are you feeling about the project at this stage?

after our discussions in class we have a clearer vision of our idea and plan and who is in charge or what area. Our idea is about perspectives targeting the older and younger generation and seeing what the issues between them to see what is similar what is different and finding a middle ground by making a piece of media we are thinking of a podcast as people feel more comfortable speaking without a camera in front of them. sharing different perspectives. contrasting old and young and possibly new residents to longer-term residents

what aspects most interest you?

I'm interested to see how people react in the end to other perspectives and views on the same topic and will it bring the generations closer together. I am also interested to just learn about people and understand community diversity in this community and learn and see how similar issues might arise in your own community and how to better understand another opinion without getting defensive. when we have all our stories we can make a video of the stories and show the two sides of a cion

What aspects are you most daunted by?

finding the right questions and people to come up with a unique perspective. If we were to use some ice breakers or online platforms would the older generation be as engaged as the younger generation would we have to rethink some ideas?

what is your understanding of dSEA- What should the experience be like for your participates?

it is digitally socially engaged art. this is an experience and thing or place where you can interact with some sort of media to gain knowledge or an experience that benefits you and your community in some way. I hope after we make our video that people will be able to step out of tier own view and with no harsh judgement take on what the other views opposing their own and gain knowledge and learn and possibly solve issues that have arisen to the surface.

What is the effect of sharing the work with the community?

the possible effect may be, changes in the community, new societies, new perspectives a more open understanding community of all sides.

what most interests you about the community group you have chosen?

i am interested to see the older generations perspective as it opposes my own as I know what it is like to be a young person in a community with similar issues of central being the only place to meet and hang out. As well as what it's like to move into a new community.

what opportunities for change/ improvement/progress do you see in this theme and for this community group?

first to understand this question more we need to find the main issues by having a workshop. possibly things such as helping the older generation understand newer technologies and with support from the youth. Having discussions with the older generation about what they did in their youth and possible solutions for areas or things for the younger generation. possibly having events that include all generations and cultures to help the community bond.

what initial questions are you basing your workshop on?

Older generation questions

your favourite area in Carrigtwohill?

why is it your favourite?

what are the issues in the community based on your generation?

how do you feel about the younger generation in your community?

are there any issues between these two groups?

what are your feelings on media? do you think it will last?

would you prefer going back to paper?

is there anything you think the younger generation could help you with?
