Workshop 2, 3 & 4 young gen, old gen +mix
notes taken during both workshops
during workshop 2 it was one participant Connor as he missed the younger generation one so myself Aidan and Cillian did a separate workshop with him. Since he was on his own it was difficult to get answers out of him as he felt pressured as there was no other participant with him. Since he wasn't giving elaborate answers the interactive section was a lot harder so we felt best that he does it in his own time. On looking back maybe we should have pushed him a little more and did the poster with him.
In the third workshop for the older generation, we were meant to have two participants but one didn't show up so we continued without him. Aidan and I lead this workshop. I found this one a lot easier as the participant was very willing to talk even though he didn't really know too much about different generations. In saying that he gave very nice insights into the community of carrigtwohill and how we should focus more on the younger generations experience as they are the future. when I described the stereotypes of his generation that it didn't really apply to him such as being set in their ways. He felt this didn't apply to him as he's an electrition by trade so he has to constantly be moving with the times. I asked if there were people with these stereotypes in his generation and if there is any way to break it down and he said "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" which I thought was an interesting perspective. Overall this was a smooth running workshop and we got some great insights.
The fourth workshop was a family so a mix of generations and going into this we thought that it would be easy enough as they would all be comfortable with each other. The workshop with this group was a little harder than we thought since they didn't want any of their audio pieces used we tried to focus on the interactive section and just insights so we can quote them in a poster for social media. I think since their piece wasn't being put on social media they were less likely to get involved and I found it hard to get input when doing the poster with them mainly just doing it myslef. Overall we got a breaking news headline and a poster out of it and possibly a few quotes that we could use.
